Getting There
This talk was presented by me as the 7th session of Rob and Jenny H's CBC Navigation Refresher 2010 course:
Tuesday 3 August - Navigation Refresher 2010 #7 An evening looking at PC software and GPS. An evening looking at the integration of GPS and digital maps and their use for walk planning and reporting. 7.30-10.00pm. Bring a little supper to share. Presenter: John Evans - jevans@pcug.org.au, (h) 6288 7235. Transport: Drive yourself to my home in Duffy.
Further Information
Routes, waypoints and tracks can be exchanged between suitably capable GPS and computer based mapping programs accessing digital maps. A walk can be planned in detail from the comfort of your armchair and the agony and ecstasy reviewed in detail afterwards. I use a Garmin Oregon 550 GPS and PC-based OziExplorer software accessing NSW Department of Lands TopoView Raster 2006 digital 1:25000 and 1:50000 maps.
